Meet Fisnik Nick Demaj

Educator, author, and retired peace officer Fisnik “Nick” Demaj has shaped his life through service, resilience, and storytelling. Born in Kosovo, he arrived in the United States in 1999 and later discovered his true calling in education. Since 2014, Nick has dedicated himself to empowering non‑native English speakers, helping students build confidence, fluency, and a voice of their own.
As a writer of both fiction and nonfiction, Nick draws on his cultural heritage and lived experiences to bridge linguistic and cultural gaps. He is a 2026 Regal Summit Book Award winner for his memoir Footsteps Through Fire: Memoir of a War Refugee and his novel Threads of Destiny.
